“LOOK AND THINK BEFORE OPENING THE SHUTTER. THE HEART AND MIND ARE THE TRUE LENS OF THE CAMERA” – Yousuf Karsh
I got my first SLR, a Pentax 1000, from my Dad when I was 12 years old. I was immediately hooked. It goes without saying my life has been spent mostly taking the photos instead of actually being in the photos. I haven’t minded. I find photography fun and fascinating (and sometimes downright frustrating). I can click, click, click all day and still not manage to capture what I saw. Then there are the moments of capturing something beautiful and unique by sure luck. I am partial to landscape and architecture but taking street photography is a rush – it’s a delicate balance of being there without being there, if you know what I mean. And you have to be fast!
Like most everyone else I’ve switched to the digital SLR and have just recently started underwater photography. For me, digital photography is like learning photography all over again. However, it is nice to be able to take as many pictures as you want to try to get it right the first time in order to try to avoid editing as much as possible.
Much of my portfolio here is me learning with my toys. I hope you enjoy my learning process.
